About Me

I am from the U.S. and have moved to Ireland as a PhD student at University College Cork, studying the relationship between nature based spiritualities and land, in the context of climate justice. I feel privileged to learn from organizers, activists, academics, and change makers in Ireland.

I am a former Episcopal priest and chaplain, who worked alongside people in my community who experienced homelessness, addiction, and incarceration. I was raised in a poor white community, in the Evangelical right, and have had my own experiences of poverty and homelessness.

Through learning about the struggles of working class and poor people around the world, I learned to see myself as part of a wider working class.

I am openly queer and trans. This Substack represents my own journey away from both the Christian and the Western worldview in which I was raised, and towards a better understanding of Indigenous sovereignty, the power of working class unity around the world, and a closer relationship with the land and earth, in this time of cataclysmic change.

During the fencing of the commons in England and English repression of Ireland, the hedges were the places that held remaining biodiversity and housed outcasts. I am an activist and organizer, a PhD student, and a former chaplain.
